Mrs. Julie Kolb

Hello! My name is Julie Kolb, and I am a third grade math and science teacher here at Naranca. I have been teaching in Cajon Valley for 11 years.

Teaching is actually my second career. After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Diego State University, I worked as an auto adjuster for Farmers Insurance, helping people when their car was damaged or stolen. Although most people would not make a connection between auto insurance and teaching, I did! As an adjuster, my job often involved educating people about their car insurance. I decided I liked teaching so much, I returned to school and earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters in Cross Cultural Teaching from National University.

I feel fortunate to work at Naranca where we have students from many different places. Our diversity is our strength.

I am a big believer in the fact that all children possess creative and unique mathematical skills, and it is my hope that throughout our year together, we all grow stronger in our math thinking - me included! I also love the opportunity to teach science. Students naturally have an early love of science, and I am lucky enough to get to share that passion with them.

In my free time, I love to spend time with my husband and children. I also like to read, go running, travel, and work on my house. If I’m not at school, I can be found doing one of these!
