Standard Income Protection is long term disability insurance for certificated and classified contract employees (excluding management) working at least 15 hours per week. The District provides this disability insurance for employees instead of State Disability Insurance (SDI). This benefit begins after a 7-day waiting
period during which the employee must be totally disabled and absent from work by order of a physician. These benefits are designed to pay employees a benefit amount for each work day missed while on long-term disability.It is the employee’s responsibility to initiate the claim by contacting their Payroll Technician. You are also required to complete and mail claim form to Standard per the instructions included with the form. Payroll will submit the employer portion of the claim form directly to Standard and send a copy to you for your records. Contact Standard at (800) 522-0406.
